Dave & Buster’s to open first establishment in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN – Restaurant and entertainment chain Dave & Buster’s is ready to open its doors in Puerto Rico after delaying its original October launch date because of the passing of Hurricane Maria.
The restaurant, in Bayamón’s Plaza del Sol shopping center, officially opens Monday, Jan. 15, but pre-opened Friday at noon to receive members of the press and special guests during a nighttime activity.
At more than 40,000 square feet, the restaurant chain spared no expense to provide Puerto Rico the same quality of games and entertainment as it offers customers in the United States and Canada. The restaurant’s opening will create 290 direct jobs.
.“With our innovative menu and cocktails to the latest and top arcade games that you won’t find anywhere else, as well as our enormous high-quality TVs in our D&B sports bar, we foresee that we will be your choice locale in which to eat, drink, play and watch sports in Puerto Rico,” said Ángel Galarza, general manager of Dave & Buster’s Bayamón.
Galarza, who is of Puerto Rican descent, commented that the decision to open the first establishment in Bayamón was based on the shopping center’s daily traffic and proximity to the San Juan metropolitan area.
The establishment offers clients about 140 of the latest arcade games and, from Jan. 15 to Feb. 4, four free games are included with the purchase of $10 or more from the Power Card: Lane Master, Cruis’n Blast, Air FX and Let’s Bounce. Those strings of tickets that are so difficult to accumulate can be redeemed with WIN! to opt for a variety of awards, including Apple products, Xbox games, and sports reminders in a kind of store located in the same establishment.
As for the food menu, in Puerto Rico the chain premieres the dishes that will be offered in February at the chain’s other premises. Among the dishes are the legendary Buffalo Wing Burger & BBBacon Burger–a hamburger with three different kinds of bacon–as well as new dishes, such as Chicken & Waffle Sliders and When Pigs Fly–four small pork burgers with chicken strips and fries–all in a bucket. Galarza added that the menu includes vegan selections and the restaurant can prepare special foods for people with allergies.
Something that distinguishes the restaurant chain is its bar amid a gaming room, in which customers can enjoy a varied alcohol menu that includes such favorites as Adult Snow Cones, CoronaRitas, Tiki Drinks, Luxe LITs and the Strawberry Melon Margarita–made with strawberry-flavor ice cubes–Glow Kones with bright, flashing cubes, and new cocktails like Henny’s Tropical Seduction and an Irish LUXE Patron LIT.
José Miguel López oversees the training of the employees who prepare the emblematic beverages.
Without providing details, Caribbean Business was informed that the chain intends to open another establishment this year, possibly in the island’s southern region.
Dave & Buster’s will also have multiple spaces for corporate events and meetings, birthday parties and team-building activities.
The establishment will be open Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight, and Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
