Pew Analysis: Puerto Rico Population Severed by Unrelenting Outmigration

SAN JUAN – An analysis of Census Bureau data by the Pew Research Center breaks down the various factors resulting in Puerto Rico’s highest island-wide emigration in 50 years.

The nonpartisan “fact tank,” highlights that every island municipality, except Gurabo, has had net population declines, with the San Juan metro area registering a 10 percent drop in just five years.
