Puerto Rico Bankers Association to hold seminar on nonprofits

SAN JUAN – The Puerto Rico Bankers Association (PRBA) will be holding a seminar on nonprofit and community organizations in the western part of the island during which experts will discuss financial topics and tax issues related to the management of those entities.

The executive vice president of the PRBA, Zoimé Álvarez, said the event, “Figuras Corporativas que Promueven el Fin Social” (“Corporate Figures that Promote the Social Purpose”), will be held in Auditorium AE No. 242 of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus’ School of Business Administration on Friday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m.

“We urge community-based leaders and nonprofit organizations from the west to participate in this free-of-charge seminar we have prepared, aimed at providing them with valuable information for the management of their organizations,” Álvarez said.

The event’s topics are titled: “Estado del 4to Sector y Retos para las Organizaciones sin Fines de Lucro,” (“State of the 4th Sector and Challenges for Non-Profit Organizations”); “Corporaciones B y Corporaciones L3C” (B and L3C Corporations); and “Diferencias Contributivas (OSFL vs. CORP. B y L3C)” [Tax Differences (NPO vs. CORP B and L3C)].
