Seaborne and Vieques Air Link enter into codeshare agreement
Seaborne Airlines will host Vieques Air Link’s schedule itineraries on its reservation system, adding Culebra and Vieques as new destinations. Customers traveling with Seaborne will only need a single ticket, allowing for one-stop check-in and baggage transfers.
Seaborne, as the largest Caribbean-based regional airline, serves San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport, St Thomas and St Croix airports, and seaplane bases Anguilla, Tortola, Dominica, Saint Martin, and St Kitts & Nevis.
Vieques Air Link, meanwhile, flies from the island-municipality of Vieques to mainland Puerto Rico, Culebra, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
Initially, Seaborne will place its designator code on Vieques Air Link routes. Flights will be sold as Seaborne Airlines and can be reserved in the next 60 days on Seaborne’s website, online travel agencies and major global distribution systems.
Vieques Air Link’s customers will benefit from the partnership with better connections throughout the Caribbean and stateside utilizing Muñoz Marín Airport, where Seaborne has interline agreements with American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue and United Airlines among others.
“This agreement combines Seaborne Airlines’ experience serving exciting Caribbean destinations with Vieques Air Link established roots in the market,” Ben Munson, CEO of Seaborne Airlines, is quoted in the announcing release.
“This connectivity will bring convenience and flexibility to all tourism and residents as well. The combination of two of Puerto Rico’s leading airlines is the beginning of a comprehensive Caribbean routes coverage like no other in the airline industry,” Carlos Rodríguez, president and general manager of Vieques Air Link, added.
