15 Options to Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Puerto Rico
December 31 is New Year’s Eve—traditionally one of the most eagerly awaited events as it heralds the start of a new year.
Metropolitan area hotels capitalize on the occasion by presenting a wide range of options ranging from partying to tropical music to electronic music bashes.

Are you still undecided on what to do on New Year’s Eve? Check out these events:
The Caribbean Hilton will host “New Year’s Wonderland” where you will enjoy the music of DJ Xtasis, Iván Robles, Plena Libre, Banda Sin Prisa, DJ James Soto, DJ Predator, DJ Lightning, DJ R15 and DJ JC and Unna, among others. Tickets are $97.76 through December 29, afterwards will cost $121.97 per person. VIP tickets are $152.47. Prices do not include tax.
San Juan Marriot Resort & Stellaris Casino will host a party in the lobby area with live music from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Entrance fee is $130 before December 27, afterwards will be $160 per person, which includes the party, an open bar and the midnight asopao (hearty rice and pigeon pea soup).
The Embassy Suites in San Juan will have “The Best New Year’s Eve Celebration” from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The event will feature two activities. The first is the “Oasis Jackpot Celebration” featuring live music; the cost is $220 per table of four and includes a bottle of sparkling wine. Price does not include tax. In addition, they will have a “New Year’s Ballroom Bash” with live music at a cost of $150 per person and includes buffet dinner and open bar.
In Dorado, the Embassy Suites Dorado del Mar Beach Resort will hold three events featuring different artists and bands. One of the events features Gisselle and Plena Herencia, the second features Juan Vélez and DJ Mauro, and the third will feature Sonia López. The Condado Plaza Hilton Hotel will host the “Eternal’s New Year’s Eve 2017 Party” which will feature En Clave and DJ Phred. The celebration will cost $125 per adult and $30 per child. Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino in the Convention District brings its “Illusions New Year’s Event” where all its bars will be serving premium drinks, will serve asopao late at night and feature music by Limi-T 21 , La Secta, Ritmo y Clave, Ale Croatto, DJ Otrip, DJ Víctor Carmona, YoFred, DJ Vanvrie and DJ Louie Love, among others. Tickets cost $150 plus the service charge.
The Sheraton Hotel in Old San Juan will have a gastronomic festival. The event called “Jolgorio 2017” will feature Edwin Castro, Furia Ardiente and Frankie Sánchez. Tickets are $139 plus IVU and admission includes a welcome cocktail, open bar and a bottle of champagne.
The Ritz-Carlton in San Juan will offer the “Cirque de Caraïbe Carnival Party” from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. in the hotel’s ballroom area with live music, food and drinks. Tickets are $ 75 plus IVU. For more information call (787) 253-1700 ext. 4177.

The Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve will have a New Year’s Eve celebration starting at 10:00 p.m. with live music, DJ, countdown, open bar and asopao. Tickets are $95 per person. The Intercontinetal Hotel in San Juan will host three New Year’s Eve events. The first will take place in the Grand Ballroom with live music by Don Perigñón and La Puerrriqueña and La Patrulla 15. This event will have unlimited premium drinks and dinner with Puerto Rican buffet. Admission is $149. The second event will be held in the Preciosa Ballroom and will also feature a dinner buffet, unlimited drinks and live music by Joseph Fonseca, Plenéalo and Conjunto Somos. Admission is also $149. The third event will take place at the Q Bar Lounge with a live band and DJ music. Admission is $225 per table of four and includes a bottle of champagne.
On the island’s eastern region, the El Conquistador Hotel in Fajardo will have two events: a party in the lobby area with Latin music and a celebration in the pool area with DJ music. There will be fireworks at midnight. For more information call (787) 863-1000.
On the western region, Rincón of the Seas Hotel will offer its traditional New Year’s Eve party. The admission ticket includes the party, garden dinner buffet, dancing in the Grand Caribbean Ballroom with the Moisés Cancel Orchestra, DJ music, a toast, midnight asopao and happy hours. The Mayagüez Resort & Casino will ring in 2017 with the “Super New Year’s Bash” featuring music by Melina León. Admission is $135 plus IVU and includes dinner buffet, asopao and a drink.
