By on January 18, 2016

SAN JUAN – Attorney Liza Ortiz, who worked as head of former Gov. Aníbal Acevedo Vilá’s legislative office when he was House minority speaker for the Popular Democratic Party (PDP), was named Monday campaign manager of the PDP’s candidate for governor, Davier Bernier.

Bernier also announced the appointment of Javier González as his campaign coordinator. González served as assistant secretary of State under Bernier. Also, David Verjer was appointed government program director of Bernier’s campaign, and attorney Samuel González as the campaign’s operations director. González served as National Parks director during Acevedo Vilá’s administration. He resigned after the administration did not provide the funds he required to manage that agency. Acevedo Vilá had told González that if he could not run the agency with the allocated funds, he should resign.

Ana María Santiago, who Bernier called an experienced communicator, was appointed as his campaign’s communications and press director.

The gubernatorial hopeful highlighted the diversity of his campaign team and said it has been developed beyond party lines.
