Chubb Appoints Insurance Leader for Latin America
SAN JUAN – Property and casualty insurance company Chubb announced Tuesday the appointment of Juan Manuel Merchan as senior vice president, Accident & Health and Life Insurance, for Latin America.
Prior to ACE’s acquisition of the Chubb Corp. in January, Merchan served as ACE’s Country president for Colombia. In his new role, Merchan will be responsible for the performance and future development of Chubb’s accident and health and life business in Latin America. Merchan will be based in Miami and report to Jorge Luis Cazar, regional president, Latin America, as well as Ed Levin, division president, Accident & Health, Overseas General Insurance, and Russell Bundschuh, president, Chubb Life.
Merchan joined ACE in Colombia in 2005 as Financial Lines underwriter. In 2007, he relocated to Mexico to serve as deputy director of Financial Lines for Mexico and Central America. In 2009, he was promoted to country president, Chile. In 2014, he relocated to Colombia to assume the role of country president.
“Juan Manuel has extensive management and leadership experience, a proven track record of delivering results and deep understanding of this important region,” said Cazar in a statement Tuesday.
Merchan succeeds Fabiola Franco, who has been named senior vice president, Accident & Health Business Development, Overseas General Insurance.
