Claro signs collective agreement with union

SAN JUAN— Executives from Claro Puerto Rico and directors from the Independent Union Of Telephone Employees (UIET for its Spanish initials) gathered on Wednesday to sign the extension of the collective agreement between both entities, the company announced on Thursday.

The collective agreement will be valid until January 30, 2021.

Claro Puerto Rico’s president, Enrique Ortiz de Montellano, and Edward Sánchez Gautier, president of the U.I.E.T., seal the collective agreement deal among both parties while they are overlooked by members of the negotiating committee.

The agreement’s extension constitutes a historic moment of collaboration between the U.I.E.T. and Claro, which seeks to guarantee employments despite the economic crisis the country currently faces, reads a written declaration from the enterprise.

In addition, the arrangement aspires to strengthen the service Claro provides to its clients within the highly competitive telecommunications market, it explained.
