Couple Missing in Rainforest Since Wednesday Found
FAJARDO, Puerto Rico – Jaime Valentín, 53, and Betzaida Márquez, 47, were found safe and sound by forest rangers and Municipal Emergency Management personnel in an area near an El Yunque National Rainforest waterfall, La Coca.
At about 10:35 a.m. Saturday, Valentín’s SUV was found parked at the waterfall’s designated area. He was reported missing by his family since Wednesday.
The couple said they had strayed off their route when they took a wrong path while in the area Wednesday to practice archery.
They said they survived by eating fruit and drinking river water.
