COVID-19 claims 12 more lives

Health Dept. registers 848 more cases

SAN JUAN – The Department of Health reported 12 deaths from COVID-19; as well as 476 confirmed cases and an additional 372 probable cases. The registered deaths were confirmed and listed as follows:

  • 78-year-old woman from the Arecibo region
  • 84-year-old man from the Arecibo region
  • 49-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 87-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 69-year-old man from the Arecibo region
  • 67-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 86-year-old man from the Caguas region
  • 83-year-old man from the Metro region
  • 75-year-old woman from the Bayamón region
  • 69-year-old man from the Arecibo region
  • 80-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 62-year-old woman from the Arecibo region

With the additional deaths reported, the confirmed deaths total 349 and the probable ones 163, for a combined 512 deaths. I

“The change in the number of deaths should not be interpreted as having occurred in the last 24 hours. Likewise, it is important to point out that the death report may vary, to the extent that the processes of registration and coding of the causes of death occur, which could take several days,” the Health Department stressed in its daily statement.

The number of confirmed infection cases is 17,248, of which 9,145 are women and 8,103 are men.
“The total was adjusted after adding four cases with sampling dates from August 8 to 18; in addition, 21 duplicate cases were subtracted. The reported cases are those that have a positive PCR test, with a sample collection date of August 27 to September 7,” the department said.

Another 372 probable cases were registered in the report, with a sampling date that range from Aug. 27 to Sept. 7.
“Thus, the total is 19,031, after being adjusted, by subtracting 59 cases that had a positive molecular test afterward and were added to the cases registered as part of this report; in addition, eight duplicate cases were subtracted. Probable cases are divided into 10,503 women and 8,528 men.”
