COVID-19 claims to more lives, number of deaths rises to 113

Puerto Rico has 2,256 positive cases
SAN JUAN – The Department of Health (DS) reflects 58 additional COVID-19 cases and two deaths registered through the Demographic Registry, Health Secretary Lorenzo González Feliciano announced.
“The results of the 58 additional unique positive cases are…14 through molecular tests and 44 through serological tests. With these additional results, the number of unique positive cases is 2,256, [of] which…1,054 [results] have been obtained from molecular tests and 1,202 from serological tests,” the official said in a statement.
He explained that out of this total of unique positive cases, 1,133 reportedly are women and 1,123 are men.
González Feliciano said the Surveillance System did not report additional deaths listed as confirmed from COVID-19.
He pointed out that the deaths reported by the Demographic Registry were certified by clinical criteria and documented by a medical professional as having clinical pictures compatible with COVID-19, thus being listed in their death certificates.
“The deaths reported by the Demographic Registry correspond to two men, both 81 years old, from the Metro and Aguadilla regions. With the added fatalities, the total number of deaths on the island rose to 113, of which 57 were reported by the Surveillance System of the Department of Health and 56 through the Demographic Registry,” the official added.
