CPA Society to hold Construction Industry Forum Wednesday
SAN JUAN – The CPA Society will hold its 11th Construction Industry Forum Wednesday at the Vivo Beach Club in Isla Verde, which the Housing secretary and the Federal Emergency Management Agency director for the Caribbean will keynote.
“The recovery of the Island after the hurricanes of 2017 has remained steady. We see with optimism how the Construction Industry has assumed a leading role in this recovery, which also entails the restructuring of a large part of the country. Therefore, in order to examine the needs, challenges and opportunities of this phase…the CPA Society has called on representatives from different sectors to present their plans,” society President Cecilia C. Colón Oulsán said in a release.
Housing’s Fernando A. Gil Enseñat will deliver a status statement and agency projections. Meanwhile, Alejandro R. De La Campa, director of FEMA’s Caribbean Area Division, will speak about the achievements and new challenges facing the agency.
They will be accompanied by a group of panelists made up of the Treasury’s deputy secretary of Internal Revenue, CPA Francisco A. Parés Alicea; Pablo Vázquez Ruiz, president of the Engineers & Land Surveyors Association; Stephen Spears, president of the Associated General Contractors, Puerto Rico Chapter; economist Gustavo Vélez, CEO and founder of Inteligencia Económica Inc .; Eduardo Cortés, principal partner at Prisa Group; CPA and attorney Alba I. Among the topics to be discussed are the impact of federal funds on the island’s reconstruction; the role and opportunities for contractors; and recent industry-related tax developments.
