Cuban Minister of Commerce to meet US Officials in Washington

SAN JUAN – Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Commerce and Investment (Mincex), Rodrigo Malmierca, will head a delegation of Cuban officials from Mincex, the Ministry of Foreign Relations (Minrex), Banco Central de Cuba, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba and the heads of several Cuban enterprises, who will visit the U.S. next week.

Malmierca is scheduled to meet with his American counterpart, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Sue Pritzker. Both officials will inaugurate the second meeting between the two countries to discuss the scope of current regulations related to the U.S. embargo and their impact in bilateral commercial and economic relations.

The Cuban delegation will also meet with members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as representatives from the U.S. business, political and academic sectors. The Cuban officials will also pay a visit to the state of Virginia at the request of Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

The visit will take place from Feb. 15 to 18.
