Facebook to hold next Boost Your Business conference in Mayagüez

SAN JUAN – After holding its first “Boost Your Business” event locally Tuesday at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, Facebook will be offering another on the island Thursday in Mayagüez, although it is already packed.

However, for those who still want insight from the networking giant itself, Facebook offers Blueprint, which are free e-learning courses focusing on a variety of subjects, from “targeting to creative best practices to advertising on Facebook and Instagram.”

Boost Your Business participants are taught how to better promote their services and attract potential clients on the social networks.  The events include media experts, as well as local organizations and businesses to provide small and midsize enterprises (SME) with the “most up-to-date tools, insights, and best practices for achieving success” on Facebook and Instagram.

Specifically, the events delve into how to use tools such as Business Pages, Messenger and Instagram to help businesses “connect with customers,” manage their digital presence and “grow your business” by advertising on Facebook and Instagram.

“There are more than 1.6 billion people connected with a small business on Facebook,” according to a release. “Latinos who run businesses are twice as likely to say that their businesses were built on the platform, and are one and a half times more likely to say they have hired more employees since joining the platform.”

Gov. Ricardo Rosselló’s office, La Fortaleza, has said the idea of organizing the events locally arose after the governor visited Facebook headquarters in San Francisco and met with COO Sheryl Sandberg.
