Fiscal Oversight Board holds meeting with Rosselló
SAN JUAN — Members of Promesa’s Fiscal Oversight & Management Board held a meeting Friday morning in Fortaleza with Gov. Ricardo Rosselló, confirmed Public Affairs Secretary Ramón Rosario.
The public official stated that the meeting, which was not announced, was requested by the Board. However, he did not provide details about the meeting, including how many members took part in the conclave.
The meeting began at 10:30 a.m. and about an hour later, the governor’s press secretary, Yennifer Álvarez, announced it had already ended.
On Thursday, Ricardo Rosselló’s administration sent an announcement to the Board, where the measures taken by the administration were detailed to address the financial crisis. At the same time, the government of Puerto Rico is interested in a deferral of the due date to deliver the fiscal plan, as well as an extension of the PROMESA temporary legal stay.
At 11:35 a.m., the Governor’s appointed representative before the Federal Board, Elías Sánchez, confirmed that the President of the Fiscal Oversight & Management Board José Carrión was present in the meeting, along with Ana Matosantos, Carlos García, and José R. Gonzalez. Additionally, Sanchez stated that the Board did not comment about the requested extensions during the conclave. The meeting was about integrating the groups that will work in the setting up of the plan.
To the press’s questions about the objective of the meeting, Sánchez said that the meeting was not “decisive.” He did admit that the governor “exposed the reasons as to why the extension was needed.”
