Former Bayamón Mayor to lead Rosselló Campaign
SAN JUAN – Former Bayamón Mayor Ramón Luis Rivera has been appointed president of Ricardo Rosselló’s campaign for governor.
Besides Rivera, Elías Sánchez was named executive director and William Villafañe secretary general of the New Progressive Party (NPP) campaign.
Itza M. García was appointed president of the “Plan for Puerto Rico,” which frames the gubernatorial hopeful’s campaign, Roselló said in a news release.
“We are definitely organized, and each year we measure our efforts and the course of action to take because it is clear and solid proof of the level of organization our government will have starting in January 2017,” Rosselló stated.
Regarding Rivera’s appointment, Rosselló said that, “in multiple times, this work team has demonstrated an extraordinary level of organization, discipline and dedication.”
On June 5, Rosselló will face Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi in a primary for the NPP’s nomination as candidate for governor.
While Rosselló recruited the NPP minority leader in the House of Representatives, Jenniffer González, as running mate and candidate for resident commissioner, Pierluisi recruited former Transportation and Public Works Secretary Carlos Pesquera.
