GM Sec Tec provides IT and security solutions in the Caribbean and northern Latin America. Founded in 1990, FIRST consists of Internet emergency response teams from more than 300 corporations, government bodies, universities and other institutions worldwide. It fights cybercrime, sabotage and terrorism, and promotes cooperation among computer security incident response teams (CSIRTs) and law enforcement agencies. The global association helps in the response of security events by providing organizing best practices events and offering education for CSIRTs.
“We have our specialized GMST BRT, which supports the management of incidents and massive cyberattacks with access to FIRST’s global network. Our FIRST membership provides us with instant notification of potential security threats, as well as best practices in corrective measures,” Héctor Guillermo Martínez, executive vice president of GM Sec Tec’s Strategy & Development Office, said in a statement.
GM Sec Tec will participate in the 2016 annual FIRST conference in Seoul, North Korea, and will be part of the delegation of Puerto Rico and Latin America to receive the torch at the next annual conference, which will be held in San Juan in 2017.
