Puerto Rico Should Receive Some $2.47 billion
SAN JUAN — Gov. Pedro Pierluisi said the Government of Puerto Rico has requested the U.S. Department of the Treasury to distribute the third federal stimulus package that will be provided through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021.
According to a press release issued by the governor’s office, Puerto Rico should receive some $2.47 billion of the funding intended to provide additional relief to address the continued impact of COVID-19.
“These funds from the American Rescue Plan are essential for the government to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on its public agencies and corporations, as well as on various sectors of our economy. My administration is committed to promoting our economic recovery while continuing our virus prevention and vaccination efforts,” said Pierluisi.
Pierluisi said the Government of Puerto Rico will allocate additional funds for mental health, gender-based violence and nutrition, among other areas.
