By on July 20, 2018

SAN JUAN – Gov. Ricardo Rosselló Nevares on Friday requested the resignation of the executive director of the Public Buildings Authority, Amílcar González Ortiz, and the general manager of the Office for the Improvement of Public Schools(OMEP by its Spanish acronym), Carlos Santiago.

“We have been doing a series of changes. I thanked both Amílcar and Carlos Santiago, who were worked very hard. Now we are making a transition, particularly at the start of the new school year, where the vision and implementation of maintenance and new school structures is critical, we decided to go in another direction, but we are always grateful for their collaboration,” the governor said at a press conference.

The governor also said “an integrated vision” will be carried out.

“As you know, we have OMEP, Public Buildings and AFI [Spanish acronym for Infrastructure Financing Authority, which is headed by Eduardo Rivera Cruz, brother of Bayamón Mayor Ramón Luis Rivera Cruz] which play a role in this area of school openness and maintenance of school sites. We want to have an integrated execution and we have taken those steps. In my government, I will be making those changes,  whenever needed, when the situation warrants it,” he added.
