Governor Signs Bill That Allows Pensioners To Negotiate Health Plans
SAN JUAN — On Thursday, Gov. Alejandro García Padilla signed into law Senate Bill 1527, which allows public pensioner organizations to directly manage benefits under their respective plans, according to a statement released by La Fortaleza.
“I just signed a bill that you have been asking for more than 30 years, so you could negotiate your health plan,” stated García Padilla.
The government’s Employee Retirement System is also allowed to deduct from payroll the payments of those pensioners who voluntarily accept the negotiation and contracting of health benefits.
Earlier during the day, the governor also announced in Trujillo Alto that 1,058 school lunchroom workers have been granted job permanence under the local Education Department’s Food Authority.
