Hemisphere and Atlantic Broadband Launch Spanish-Language Cable Channels in Miami
Hemisphere Media Group Inc., a U.S. company targeting the Spanish-language television and cable networks business in the mainland U.S. and Latin America, expanded its partnership with Atlantic Broadband by launching two more of its Spanish-language cable networks, Pasiones and Televisión Dominicana, on Atlantic’s Miami systems.
With the addition of the two cable networks, Atlantic subscribers can see all Hemisphere’s channels, which also includes Centroamérica TV, Cinelatino and WAPA América.
The additional networks, which are now available on Atlantic’s Spanish-language programming package, Mundo Latino Basico, are:
- Pasiones, dedicated to showcasing telenovelas and serialized dramas;
- Televisión Dominicana, a network targeting Dominicans living in the U.S., offering news, entertainment and sports programming from the island, including exclusive rights to the Dominican Professional Baseball Winter League.
Based in Miami, Hemisphere owns and operates five leading U.S. Hispanic cable networks; two Latin American cable networks; WAPA, Puerto Rico’s highest rated broadcast television network; WAPA América, a cable network targeting Puerto Ricans and other Caribbean Hispanics living in the U.S., featuring programming produced by WAPA, with a U.S. distribution of 5.2 million subscribers, according to Hemisphere.
