House speaker assures passage of Puerto Rico tax reform during special session

RÍO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The speaker of the House of Representatives, Carlos “Johnny” Méndez Núñez, assured Friday that the legislative body will pass tax reform during the special session convened this week.

“We continue to work on the call made by the governor. On Monday, the House will approve several of the measures and only the tax reform bill is left; we are only waiting for the executive [branch] agencies to send the documents we asked for,” the speaker said in a statement.

“The matter of tax reform will be addressed this week and two bills approved by the Senate and that we will approve Monday,” Méndez Núñez added while reiterating the importance of tax reform.
