SAN JUAN – Sears Holdings said Thursday that as part of its financial restructuring process, 40 Sears and Kmart stores will be closing in February 2019. The list includes three Kmart locations in Puerto Rico.

The three Kmart stores that will be closing are the one on San Germán’s Castro Pérez Avenue, San Patricio Plaza in Guaynabo and the one at Las Catalinas Mall in Caguas. The island currently has 21 Kmart stores.

Liquidation sales at these stores are expected to begin late next week. The accompanying Sears Auto Stores will also be closing, in addition to the previously announced closure of 142 “unprofitable” stores expected to be completed near the end of the year.
