Get to know shopping centers’ Black Friday schedules

Puerto Rico’s business owners and shopping malls continue their preparations for the year’s biggest sales day, Black Friday. Since it has already become a tradition that follows up Thanksgiving Day, and thus, the beginning of holiday festivities, there will be specials for the ‘early riser’ sale, and there are some stores that will have the ‘sleepyhead’ sale, with discounts as of 10:00 a.m.

These are the schedules of some shopping centers and their events:

Plaza Las Américas, San Juan

Most stores, especially large retailers, will open Friday at midnight. Other businesses will open as of 4:00 or 6:00 a.m. At 6:00 a.m. they will have a live transmission with Fidelity, the radio station, while throughout the morning there will be ‘pleneros’ to cheer shoppers.

Plaza del Caribe, Ponce

Although the shopping center at 5:00 a.m., musical group Pirulo y La Tribu will play salsa on the mall’s square from 4:00 a.m. As of 6:00 a.m., radio station Estereo Tempo will do a live transmission.

San Patricio Plaza, Guaynabo

Bed Bath & Beyond and Kmart will open at 5:00 p.m., T-Mobile at 6:00 p.m., while the remaining stores will open at 7:00 a.m. There will be farm animals on the nativity, which will be located on the ground floor.

At 11:30 a.m. Santa Claus will arrive with ‘pleneros’ and several personalities, such as Patrick and Mama Claus. The parade will commence from the large Christmas tree in the southern entrance, until Casa de Santa, in front of T.J. Maxx. In addition, there will be free photos with Santa from one’s cellphone with a receipt of at least $10, while a physical photograph may be requested for $3.

Meanwhile, Uber users may get their free drive to San Patricio free of charge (up to $10) until Dec. 31 by using the code SANPATRICIO.

Although the shopping center is closed in Thanksgiving, businesses like Caribbean Cinemas and Menchie’s will operate as of 2:00 p.m., while Sweet Ann Cakes will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Walgreens will operate as per usual.

Plaza Carolina, Carolina

This mall will open  midnight on Friday until 10:00 p.m. During the ‘early riser’ sale there will be entertainment on the central atrium from midnight until 7:00 a.m.

The Mall of San Juan, San Juan

On this particular case, the shopping center will celebrate its Blue Friday, which coincides with Black Friday. Stores will open at 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and there will be entertainment and surprises. There will also be a live transmission with KQ105 and there will be a photo booth for those who which to take pictures.

The program ‘Los Seis de la Tarde’ from Univision will do a transmission and a large screen will allow viewers to see their comments. In addition, there will be an exposition on the third level of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, the National Football League’s championship trophy, which begins this Friday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. The exposition will continue Saturday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Walmart (18 tiendas alrededor de la isla)

The 18 Walmart stores will open at midnight with its traditional ‘early riser’ sale, which will have discounts for electronics, consoles, television sets, drones, computers, latptops, video games and movies, explained Walmart Puerto Rico’s Public Affairs director, Iván Báez.

Báez stated there will be a second wave of offers that will begin at 10:00 a.m. and it will be called the ‘sleepyhead’ sale, which will concentrate on discounts for home goods and appliances, paintings, clothing, kitchen utensils and toys.

“We are in a comfortable position to offer our clients the products they want for the lowest possible prices, and at the same time, we have sufficient quantities. We want people to be satisfied. If some products have been sold, we will ensure people leave happy,” explained Báez regarding Walmart’s operations for Black Friday.
