Manufacturers Association Organizes Forum to explore opportunities in Dominican Republic and Panama

SAN JUAN – The Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA) will hold a forum Nov. 10 in which speakers from the Dominican Republic and Panama will present economic, legal and commercial aspects about conducting business with these countries. The event will also provide an opportunity to hear firsthand about commercial successes and challenges several local companies developing businesses in both countries have faced, association President Rodrigo Masses said.

The event will be divided into two sessions, with the morning’s theme being the Dominican Republic, and Panama in the afternoon. It will be held at PRMA’s headquarters in office 702 of the International Marketing Center’s Tower II on PR-165 in Guaynabo.

prma-world-logoThe first part of the event will include three speakers from the Dominican Republic who will address topics on the island’s market and how to do business in the country. Juan F. Mejía, founding partner of Soluciona Integral, will speak about the Dominican Republic’s macroeconomic profile; Alfonso Riera, founding partner of Front Consulting Group, will talk about foreign investment; and Simón Planas, director of Soluciona Integral, will delve on the legal side of doing business and investing in the Dominican Republic.

The local speakers are Atty. Alexis Hernández, of the McConnell Valdés law firm, who will speak about the Act 20 for export services. In addition, two Puerto Rican companies that export services to the Dominican Republic successfully will share their experiences and recommendations, with Harold Nadal, senior vice president of MSSS Inc.; and Fernando Rodríguez, president of Prime Janitorial, giving presentations.

The second part of the event will be devoted to Panama. In this segment, Atty. Rubén Castillo, founder and managing partner of the Mendoza, Arias, Valle & Castillo law firm of Panama will cover macroeconomic aspects, the legal framework and experiences with clients who have established themselves in that country.

Atty. Francisco Pavía, of McConnell Valdés, will speak about the legal perspective of doing business from Puerto Rico. In addition, three success stories of Puerto Rican companies that have manufacturing operations or services exported to Panama will be presented by Braulio Mejia, senior vice president, CSA Group; Francisco Martínez, business development manager of CPM Group; and Sergio Blanco, president of LANCO.
