MCS Announces $1 Million Relief Campaign for Puerto Rico

By on October 12, 2017

SAN JUAN – MCS Healthcare Holdings LLC (MCS) is matching contributions of up to $500,000 in support of Puerto Rico for the recovery of hurricanes Irma and María to reach a total of at least $1 million. It has raised nearly $270,000.

The campaign, titled “Puerto Rico Reverdece,” or “Green for Puerto Rico Challenge,” alluding to the island’s revival by becoming green again, aims to use the fund to assist the victims of both hurricanes, through its organization Alianza por Más Compromiso Social Inc. (Alliance for More Social Commitment)

“MCS has been proudly serving Puerto Rico for 35 years, and in these difficult moments, we wanted to step forward strongly to act on our commitment to be leaders in pushing forward the rebuilding efforts for our people,” said Jim O’Drobinak, chief executive officer of MCS.

Besides seeking to create awareness that Puerto Ricans are an active part of the efforts to rebuild the island, MCS Foundation will donate 100% of the funds raised to non-profit institutions focusing on children and toward healthcare.

Beneficiaries of this fund include Unidos por Puerto Rico, an initiative created by Puerto Rico first lady Beatriz Rosselló and the Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico, as well as other charitable organizations.

“MCS has been a great partner of ours throughout the years. With many schools closed or impaired, we can play a huge role in supporting the families and children of Puerto Rico get on their feet again,” added Eduardo Carrera, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico.
