By on July 23, 2018

SAN JUAN – After requesting the resignations of both positions Friday, Gov. Ricardo Rosselló recommended Monday new director appointments for the Puerto Rico Public Buildings Authority (AEP by its Spanish initials) and the Office for the Improvement of Public Schools.

The governor recommended engineer Josean Nazario as AEP executive director, and Edward Rivera as the executive director of OMEP, according to a news release issued by Rosselló’s office, La Fortaleza.

Nazario has served as deputy director of infrastructure for AEP since last year, and previously supervised the public entity’s crews in 2010. He was also regional director of OMEP in 2012, and worked in the private sector as project manager and engineering manager after he “studied civil engineering” at the Polytechnic University in San Juan, La Fortaleza said wrote.

Rivera, meanwhile, “has been working since 1992 as finance director of OMEP. He studied Business Administration at the University of Puerto Rico and holds a master’s degree in Finance from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico,” reads the release.

La Fortaleza later added statements by both nominees:

“I thank the chief executive for recommending my appointment. With my experience, knowledge, and the great work team in the AEP, I am sure that we will be able to achieve the efficiency and new Government agenda that our governor promotes for the service of excellence that Puerto Rico deserves,” Nazariosaid.

Rivera expressed that “it is an honor for me to receive from the honorable governor of Puerto Rico his recommendation for the appointment as executive director in OMEP, where I have grown professionally for these past 26 years. I will put all my experience and knowledge to work with my team for the benefit of the student community and the expectations of the Government.”

“Thanks to Josean and Edward for their willingness to lead these two important agencies. I know that your work and dedication will ensure that the Government can offer the best service to our people in the facilities and public schools of the Island,” La Rosselló said.
