New President-Elect Selected for P.R. Chamber of Commerce
SAN JUAN — The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (CofC) has selected David Rodríguez, a certified public accountant, as its new president-elect, following the resignation of Frank Medina.
On Jan. 18, CofC members ratified Rodríguez, who will replace President José Vázquez Barquet after July 1. Rodríguez had been serving as treasurer of the trade group.
Former President-elect Medina resigned in January after the Puerto Rico Treasury Department embargoed his vitamin supplements business, Vita Natura, for owing roughly $255,000 in taxes.
Rodríguez established in 2010 Sageza LLC, a tax preparation firm. Since becoming a partner in 1999, he has held various roles within the organization, including having participated in several committees. In 2009, he was awarded with a CofC Zenit for professional services, and was Junior Chamber International’s Outstanding Young Entrepreneur in 2005.
He is a graduate from the University of Puerto Rico, and a 19-year entrepreneur, according to a CofC statement.
