Non-profits can now accept funds via ATH Móvil app

By on June 14, 2018

SAN JUAN – Puerto Rico-based transaction processor Evertec Inc., which owns the ATH debit network, announced that its ATH Móvil app can now be used to donate to non-profit organizations.

The capability is an extension of the ATH Móvil Business solution launched last year, which “now serves more than 10,000 small and medium sized businesses in Puerto Rico,” according to the release.

“The non-profit sector has been critical to the recovery efforts for Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Through our on-going commitment to innovation and support for the Island’s relief and reconstruction efforts, we are proud to deliver a new capability that enables payment contributions to these important organizations,” Guillermo Rospigliosi, Evertec’s executive vice president of Product, Marketing and Innovation, said in the release.

“Being part of ATH Móvil is of great benefit to us, because it helps us manage our fundraising events in an easier, less costly and more efficient manner and, at the same time, allows more people to know about us and our efforts in working for the social well-being of Puerto Rico,” added Samuel González, president of Fondos Unidos, which the release says is one of the first organizations to “take advantage” of the new functionality.

There are more than one million ATH Móvil users in Puerto Rico, according to Evertec.
