NPP Rep accuses Bernier’s campaign of plagiarism
SAN JUAN – New Progressive Party (NPP) Rep. Lourdes Ramos said Tuesday the election campaign of Popular Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate David Bernier used his party’s female mayoral candidates to plagiarize, allegedly, Beatriz Rosselló’s proposals.
“The premise they used caught our attention: ‘we cannot expect everything from the central government, we must do it as a nation,” asserted Ramos.

The legislator stated that Beatriz Rosselló (née. Areizaga García, spouse of NPP gubernatorial candidate Ricardo Rosselló), had made similar expressions, claiming as recently as last Thursday she maintained in Bayamón that “the government can’t do it alone.”
Ramos’s remarks are a response to a plan presented by PDP female mayoral candidates on Sept. 18 that offer a series of proposals to benefit the island’s female population, contained in the PDP government platform, titled “Government, Economy, Life: Strategic Plan for Puerto Rico.”
PDP mayoral candidate for Barranquitas, Ardyce “Dichy” Rivera, had commented that “contrary to other political proposals, the PDP promotes equality and acknowledges that equal treatment is a path we are still building, and we must step on the gas. The fight for equality must be occupational, communitarian and political.”
Ramos rebutted there is an existing law for equal payment authored by Rep. Jenniffer González, NPP candidate for resident commissioner and president of the Puerto Rico Republican Party.
The pro-statehood politician insisted the Mrs. Rosselló explained during the NPP convention and press interviews that equality efforts will continue under her spouse’s Plan for Puerto Rico.
“Likewise, Beatriz spoke about domestic violence and explained concrete proposals to strengthen draft laws and tools for authorities so victims can receive support during the entire process, and reduce the risk of exposing them or their children to danger, in such vulnerable episodes. It’s easy to copy ideas, but one must have courage not to fall in that game,” the representative commented.
Ramos reiterated the fact that the PDP candidates equally adopt the essence of women’s health programs, such as Maletín Empresarial, Casa Mía and the union of nonprofit organizations, “proves without a doubt that Beatriz Rosselló and the NPP are focused on vigorous topics and proposals to benefit women.”
