NPP Rep demands that Bernier “force the governor” to cancel Lisa Donahue’s contract

SAN JUAN – New Progressive Party (NPP) Rep. María Milagros Charbonier wants Popular Democratic Party (PDP) President and gubernatorial candidate David Bernier to meet with Gov. Alejandro García Padilla”immediately” to request he cancel Lisa Donahue and her company AlixPartners’ contract.

“Bernier said he would cancel Lisa Donahue’s contract if he were to arrive in La  Fortaleza. Now is the time to do it, not four months from now. If this new position of the PDP candidate is true, something we greatly doubt, there is time to do something about Lisa Donahue and the time is now, before she takes more millions of dollars from the people of Puerto Rico,” stressed the pro-statehood politician.

On Sunday, Bernier said he would eliminate the contract with Donahue, following a massive power outage across the entire island last week.

“After more than two years, we haven’t seen any positive result in the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority [Prepa]. On the contrary, the people have spent millions in contracts for Chief Restructuring Officer Lisa Donahue and her firm,” the legislator commented.

Charbonier claimed Bernier “prided himself,” saying he prevented the imposition of the Value-Added Tax (IVA by its Spanish acronym), for which the NPP representative demanded he “use that same power to sit with the governor and force him to cancel Donahue’s contract. We don’t expect any less,” she maintained.

According to the representative, if he doesn’t make the request to García Padilla, “Bernier would once again prove this was nothing more than an empty promise, aimed at the masses to try to buy some votes for the general elections in November.”
