Open Launches Coolpad Tattoo with Help of Renowned Tattoo Artist
SAN JUAN—After the success in Puerto Rico of its Quattro II and Diamond smartphones, cellular manufacturing company Coolpad launched its third local product, Coolpad Tattoo, exclusively for clients of Open Mobile on Wednesday. The Coolpad Tattoo was launched as a special edition device, with its packaging and smartphone case sporting designs by the renowned Puerto Rican tattoo artist Juan Salgado.Since its introduction to the local market, Coolpad has proved a popular brand of smartphones among Puerto Ricans, with both the Coolpad Quattro II and the Coolpad Diamond providing users with a high-end smartphone-like performance at a very affordable price, said Charlie Parker, vice president of Coolpad Technologies.
The Coolpad Tattoo features a large 5-inch display, 4G LTE network capability with integrated video calling, a rear 5 megapixel (MP) camera, a front 2MP camera, and Android’s 5.1 OS Lollipop operating system.
The latest Coolpad launch also reinforces the collaboration between the technology company and local carrier Open Mobile. “Open Mobile is proud to once again partner with Coolpad to launch this unique phone in its class, which captures the essence of our customers, [especially those] who like to be fashionable and more innovative,” said Joshua J. González, VP Marketing of Open Mobile. He added that the new device will be available for $ 99.99, and that the first month of the calling plan will be included for free.
In addition, those who purchase the product will have the opportunity to participate and win a commemorative limited edition shirt, as well as attend an exclusive event in Color Conspiracy, Salgado’s tattoo shop, to meet the famous tattoo artist and have a tattoo done by the man himself.
“Thanks to Open Mobile and Coolpad for giving me the honor of designing the case of this new phone,” Salgado said. “For the design, I was mainly inspired by cherry blossom flowers and koi fish, which swim against the current and symbolize good luck. In addition to the smartphone case design, Tattoo users will have several ‘wallpapers’ featuring several murals, paintings and drawings created by me and which were digitized so that people can pick and change them on the phone to their liking.”
Earlier this year at CES, Coolpad introduced a new brand image and has accelerated its global expansion, seeing its business grow in several markets in Asia Pacific, India and Europe. Coolpad Americas has also shown strong and steady growth in recent years, the Coolpad’s Parker added.
