Paseo Caribe Celebrates Jazz Week

By on April 22, 2017

From April 25 to 29, Paseo Caribe in Puerta de Tierra, San Juan, will be the place to be for jazz lovers. This event is the culmination of the International Month of Jazz and will include the participation of lauded artists Humberto Ramírez, along with a half-dozen other shows.

Grammy Award nominee Humberto Ramírez will be the headline show for the Sunset Rhythms concert on Friday, April 28, where he will debut his new album. On Saturday, April 29, Humberto Ramírez & Friends and vocalist Michelle Brava will headline the closing event.

However, there is no need to wait until the weekend because the concerts will start on Tuesday, April 25, with Osvaldo López Trio, a guitar group. The next evening, Midnight Trio and vocalist Ángela Flecha will provide entertainment. For Thursday, April 27, jazz fans can enjoy the music of Sammy Morales and the SM Quartet.

With the exception of the Sunset Rhythm concert, all musical presentations will be held in Paseo Caribe’s El Mercado venue.

The International Month of Jazz Appreciation was established by the Smithsonian National Museum and the United Nations’ Unesco agency as a way to cherish the history, diversity and rich culture that surrounds this musical genre.
