Polytechnic U. to Launch Aerospace Program in Orlando

Announces 3 New Design Specializations; Receives $2.9 Million Federal Grant

The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, Orlando Campus (PUPR-O) announced that it received a $2.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of
Education under the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA) for students in its proposed Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program.

The federal funds are for a new project titled Expanding Education and Career Pathways in Emerging Engineering Fields. The grant money will be used to expand degree options by creating an aerospace minor for its bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and specializations within this minor: manned aircraft design, propulsion
system design and unmanned aerial systems design. The Aerospace Program
will begin in August.
