Puerto Rican Olympic Delegation to Parade through San Juan on Tuesday
SAN JUAN – The Puerto Rican Olympic delegation will celebrate on Tuesday the end of the 2016 Río de Janeiro games with a parade through San Juan. The participating athletes include Javier Culson, Jaime Espinal, Franklin Gómez and Mónica Puig.
The caravan is slated to begin on Baldorioty de Castro Avenue and end at the Puerto Rico Coliseum. The event is expected to begin at 2 p.m. and includes a stop at the San Jorge Children’s Hospital and then continues toward the coliseum via Fernández Juncos Avenue.
The Urban Train’s schedule remains unaltered and therefore will be operating from 5:50 a.m. to 11:50 p.m.
Hiram Bithorn Stadium’s parking lot, which has space for 5,000 cars, will be open to the public for the event, and transportation from the stadium to the Roosevelt Avenue train station will be provided, from where people may then walk to the event.
Olga Tañón, Tito “El Bambino” and Chucho Avellanet are among the musicians who have offered to honor the athletes with their performances.
The athletes will be traveling on an open double-deck bus from which they will be able to interact with the public.
