AGUADILLA, Puerto Rico – Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said Tuesday that he trusts Puerto Rico lawmakers will repeal Act 80, the unjust dismissal law, so as to achieve the agreement he had with the island’s fiscal oversight board.

“This is a balancing act. Either choose Act 80 or Christmas bonuses … or vacation days or sick days,” the governor replied to questions from the media.

“This was an agreement that I reached, but there are some parameters in that agreement that we have to reach. I trust the colleagues in the House and the Senate will have a good judgment,” he added.

Regarding the Incentives Code, he mentioned that, along with the tax reform, they could be addressed in an extraordinary [legilative] session.

“If I have to call for an extraordinary, I will convene an extraordinary because the benefit to the people is tangible,” the governor added.
