Puerto Rico Tourism rolls out ‘Ready To Enchant You’ videos
SAN JUAN – The Puerto Rico Tourism Co. (PRTC) has created a series of videos to “debunk misconceptions” about the island and “remind travelers that Puerto Rico is ‘Ready to Enchant You.'”
The videos feature Luis Fonsi, the award-winning singer of the hit song “Despacito,” who shares facts to remind what the tourism industry agency says are more than 50 percent of travelers who say media coverage has negatively impacted their view of Puerto Rico, that the island has recovered and should top their list of vacation destinations.
Luis Fonsi and ‘Despacito’: new promoters of Puerto Rico as tourism destination
The “‘Ready to Enchant You’ [campaign] addresses top traveler questions head-on by showing how fast we’ve recovered. We’re more than ready to continue to welcome visitors and ready for travelers to experience the beautiful beaches, bustling attractions, our wide range of hotels, and many options to enjoy our delicious cuisine,” said Carla Campos, acting executive director of the PRTC.
According to Tourism Co.’s release, in the first quarter of this year, Puerto Rico has hosted “big-ticket events including the DIVAS Half Marathon and 5K, a PGA TOUR special event and IRONMAN 70.3.” It adds that the island will be hosting the MLB Series next month, along with “many more events coming down the pike.”
The videos address the perception of the current state of electricity and water availability, as well as infrastructure with visuals of experiences available to travelers.
“We will never forget what happened 6 months ago, but we certainly don’t need to be reminded of it with old imagery that impedes someone to want to vacation here now. Instead, we look to the future, to our fast-paced recovery and to our amazing progress to remind travelers that the best way to support Puerto Rico is by actually visiting. Tourism is a vital contributor to our economy – so visit and see for yourself,” Campos added.
The videos will be released weekly with new topics every week. To see a sample, visit See Puerto Rico’s Facebook page by clicking here.
