Puerto Rico Treasury system down on last day to file returns

By on April 17, 2018

SAN JUAN – Puerto Rico Treasury Secretary Raúl Maldonado said Tuesday that his department was facing problems with the tax return electronic filing system due to a network failure with one of its providers, Prepa Networks, thus the deadline has been extended to April 20.

The setback comes about on the deadline for taxpayers to file their income tax return for 2017.

“We are working hard to solve this situation as soon as possible. Taxpayers can visit the Tax Centers and fill out their return. Once the system is in optimal condition, it will be processed electronically and you will receive confirmation via email,” the official said in a statement.

“We urge taxpayers to stay informed through the social networks of the Department of the Treasury,” he concluded.
