Puerto Rico’s destination marketing organization issues RFP for PR firm
SAN JUAN – Puerto Rico’s destination marketing organization (DMO), Discover Puerto Rico (DPR), is seeking a “world-class” public relations firm that can develop a “robust, innovative, cutting-edge and outstanding strategy.”
Saying that Puerto Rico “has a unique competitive position in travel and tourism, due in part to its 526 years of rich heritage, remarkable attractions, music, gastronomy and extraordinary people,” Discover Puerto Rico added in its request for proposals that amid “an increasingly competitive global marketplace and challenging economic climate, growing the visitor economy of Puerto Rico is pivotal to the future success of the Island.”
The DMO explained that Puerto Rico “has been limited by frequent changes in brand position and creative and strategic approach due to political cycle changes,” but it “aims to achieve consistency, developing a solid and long-lasting brand identity that outlives each political cycle and appeals to global travelers. We will do so by relying heavily upon a talented team of professionals well-prepared to lift the tourism industry to new heights.”
The selected firm will be responsible for “supporting and amplifying” Discover Puerto Rico’s “public relations, talent-influencer and earned media efforts,” via a communications plan that aligns with the marketing goals established by DPR Chief Marketing Officer Leah Chandler.
“Discover Puerto Rico believes in leveraging tourism as a unique opportunity to spur and increase positive media coverage in the Mainland U.S. and beyond to propel visitation. As a destination going through a major transformation, strategic earned media efforts are crucial to raise brand awareness,” said Discover Puerto Rico’s CEO, Brad Dean.
Interested agencies may submit questions to Discover Puerto Rico no later than Dec 19 via email, to Jeniffer.email@example.com. Proposals are due by Jan. 3
