SAN JUAN – Watch store Relojes y Relojes, located on the second floor in San Juan’s Plaza las Américas shopping center, will be closing after 37 years of service, affecting 12 employees, owner Peter Kury confirmed to Caribbean Business.

“The way things are in Puerto Rico…. The contract expired and when the time came to renew it, we decided to wait…. We decided to postpone it for now, wait for Puerto Rico to improve a little more,” he explained about the store’s closure, effective June 30.

Of the 12 employees who worked at the store, four will be relocated to three of Kury’s other businesses—Pandora, Kury Alta Relojería and Joyería Kury—while the other eight decided to resign. The owner assured he doesn’t anticipate closing any of his other stores.
