San Juan celebrates Puerto Rico Housing Conference
SAN JUAN – Puerto Rico’s banking and housing industries celebrated Thursday the Puerto Rico Housing Conference in Miramar’s Sheraton Convention Center.
The event, organized by the Puerto Rico Bankers Association (PRBA) in collaboration with the Puerto Rico Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA), offered educational conferences regarding federal programs and available mechanisms to stimulate the island’s financing and affordable housing development.
During the morning, Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY) COO Paul Héroux presented an outlook of the entity’s community investment, while FHLBNY Collateral Services and Affordable Housing Secretary Cynthia Palladino provided information about the institution’s First-Time Homebuyer Program.
PRBA Executive Vice President Zoimé Álvarez Rubio thanked the FHLBNY, TransUnion and PathStone for helping to bring together key members of the commercial and mortgage banking industry and the housing industry to offer, in one place, information to make new housing projects at affordable prices viable in Puerto Rico.
“We hope to have met our main goal, which was to inform all the industry’s members about new paradigms and the availability of financing structured in today’s Puerto Rico to build and revive housing,” Álvarez said.
