SAN JUAN – The head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Linda McMahon, announced Wednesday that this year’s National Small Business Week will be held May 5-11, when events will be held to educate about the agency’s resources and support, and confer awards to beneficiaries and partners.

McMahon will start the week in Washington, D.C., where she will recognize outstanding small business owners and SBA Resource Partners. She will continue the week meeting with entrepreneurs, visiting small businesses and holding roundtable discussions with community leaders in Florida, Texas and Utah.

“We are extremely proud to honor America’s most successful small businesses during National Small Business Week,” McMahon said. “These small business owners have shown tremendous dedication and perseverance. They are the job creators that fuel our economy and best represent the nation’s 30 million small businesses.”

SBA Regional Administrator Steve Bulger, who oversees agency operations in New York and New Jersey as well a Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, will also speak with small business owners in Atlantic Region II’s District Offices “regarding continued private sector improvements they have recently witnessed due to a myriad of positive results from Washington, including the enactment of the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017,” the SBA said. “These positive small business developments include more jobs, company growth & expansion, higher employee wages, cuts to burdensome regulations and private investments in capital and operations.”

SBA will also co-host a free, two-day virtual conference featuring educational workshops and networking. Additionally, recognition and educational seminars throughout SBA’s 10 regions and 68 districts will be held throughout the week. In Atlantic Region II, National Small Business Week will include programs organized by the New York, Syracuse, Buffalo, New Jersey and Puerto Rico District Offices.

Details and registration information will be posted on www.sba.gov/NSBW as events are finalized.
