Senate to Hear Complaints about Power Blackouts Monday
SAN JUAN – Sen. Ángel Rodríguez Otero announced that, on Monday, he will address complaints about the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority’s (Prepa) rolling blackouts, which affect both homes and businesses.
“We will hold a public hearing with…Prepa’s executive director, Javier Quintana, to find out what the problem is, but above all to find solutions that are efficient and permanent,” the senator said.
Comerío Mayor Josian Santiago will also be testifying. The mountain town is one of the most affected by the blackouts, according to public complaints.

As chairman of the Senate Public Corporations and Public-Private Partnerships Committee, Rodríguez Otero will head the hearing in the Negrón López Hall at 11 a.m.
Senate Resolution 123 requires the committee to look into decisions either made or in the process of being adopted by public entities in relation to electricity, water, mass transit and telecommunications, among others.
