Celebrities gather at Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve
SAN JUAN – Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, hosted an event over the weekend to inspire travelers to Puerto Rico. The activities were attended by celebrities and philanthropists, including chef José Andrés.
“We are celebrating the resilience of the people of Puerto Rico, and the best way to help them now is for everyone to come visit again,” said José Andrés. “The tourism industry is coming back stronger than before, and Dorado Beach is an amazing part of the island.”
Over the weekend, guests enjoyed performances by Grammy and Tony awards winner Questlove, Leslie Odom Jr. of the cast of “Hamilton,” the Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tony Okungbowa, as well as a Chefs of Puerto Rico event hosted by José Andrés.
“The sound of Puerto Rico is universal, it’s the sound of right now,” said Questlove about the recovery of Puerto Rico. “I felt compelled to join the recovery efforts for the island because it’s the humane thing to do. To me, it’s more personal than just being an ambassador to represent the island, this is one of the places that was the most special to me as a child.”
“We are reopening Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve this weekend with the Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra and I am very excited to be performing with them,” said Odom Jr. “This was a great chance for me to do something that I love and help people in the process. I’ve had the opportunity to travel all over the world and this is easily one of the top five places I’ve been.”
Other attendees included Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris, Mariska Hargitay, Martha Stewart, Coco Rocha, Gayle King, Cynthia Rowley, Deborah Roberts, Helena Christensen, Jackie Cruz, Al Roker, Jane Krakowski, Marcia Gay Harden, Michele Hicks, Alex Lundqvist, Sophie Sumner, Valesca Guerrand-Hermes, Dree Hemingway and Erich Bergen.
“This exciting weekend celebrated both the rebirth and resurgence of the island, as well as our treasured resort, which has just completed an exciting transformation and reopened more spectacular than ever,” said George Sotelo, general manager of Dorado Beach.
The hotel is located on 1,400 acres in Dorado where guests have access to the 5-acre Spa Botánico, among otherluxury amenities.
