Truckers Protest Metropistas Contract
By Caribbean Business news services on May 2, 2016
SAN JUAN – Since 6 a.m. Monday, a group of truckers have gathered with their vehicles on José de Diego Avenue, near the National Cemetery in Bayamón, to demonstrate against the extension of Metropistas’ concession contract, as well as toll increases.
The group’s spokesman, Javier Rodríguez, said they intend to move to the Buchanan toll.
“More than 200 trucks will be parked in front of the toll, covering the lanes. We will make way for the public, but one or two lanes will be blocked to protest Metropistas,” he said in a NotiUno 630 radio interview.
