U.S. House holds 2nd legislative hearing to amend Promesa

SAN JUAN — The U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources was holding a legislative hearing Wednesday to discuss drafting a resolution to amend the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act (Promesa) and “for other purposes.”

Ranking Member Rob Bishop (R-Utah) called the hearing sad because if any amendments were passed by the House, they will “never be discussed in the Senate and they will never be signed by the president.”

This will be the last of two hearings presided by Chairman Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) on the topic. A copy of the discussion draft is here.
