When the Going Gets Tough…

Putting a twist on a line from Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, who is credited with the saying: “When the going gets tough, the weird turn pro,” this journal, dedicated to the economic development of Puerto Rico, would put it like this: “When the going gets tough, the pro create jobs.”
That fact is one of the more valuable aspects underpinning this journal’s annual edition highlighting Puerto Rico’s Top 200 Locally Owned Companies.

Although the companies are ranked according to general revenue, the jobs created by many of Puerto Rico’s Top 200 is a truly heroic feat, given the spate of misfortune unfurled upon Puerto Rico dating back to 2017, when a wind beast named Maria ran roughshod over the island, devastating a dilapidated power grid already run by a bankrupt utility with a more than $9 billion debt load.
